10 Ideas for a Spooky Halloween at home

Just because we need to remain socially distanced this year it doesn't mean Halloween is canceled — it just means we need to be a little more creative with our Halloween ideas. We've put together a list of some our our favourite ideas. From setting up a few festive Halloween games to cooking some yummy treats.

1. Decorate cookies or cupcakes

Who says Halloween is all about the sweets? This is the perfect time to get creative with your baking. Decorate some spooky cookies or build a (haunted) gingerbread house. You'll have both an activity and a yummy dessert.

2. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Already a great autumnal outdoor activity, many pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and farms are implementing social distancing for their little visitors.

3. Carve a pumpkin

Once you're done picking the pumpkins, it's obviously time to carve. Whether you're aiming for a classic jack-o'-lantern face or a more original design, pumpkin carving is the perfect activity to do outdoors, distanced from friends or with kids at home. We've created a super handy step by step guide to carving your pumpkin like a pro, download yours here

4. Play Halloween Games

No party, no problem. All of the classic Halloween party games can be just as fun with only your family, like bobbing for apples. This is such an autumn activity, but how many people actually do it? Without trick-or-treating, now you can try! 5. Watch a scary movie There's no more classic Halloween activity than watching a scary movie. Make a night of it by preparing some popcorn and sweets and setting a spooky scene.

6. Paint your kids faces
You don't have to be an artist to have fun with face paint. Ask your kids which design they'd like and do your best to paint it. They can even take turns painting each others' faces if they'd like.
7. Decorate the house

Nothing will get you more in the Halloween spirit than decking out your house in all things black and orange. Throw in a couple of decorative pumpkins and you're all set. Download our printable bunting here. Perfect for a kids' Halloween party and it won't cost you a penny!

8. Keep little hands busy

Celebrate the spooky season with some Halloween arts and crafts for your little monsters. They’re perfect for decorating your house and improving your child's motor skills, creative thinking, and cognitive development. All you need is a few simple supplies and some festive Halloween spirit.

9. Wear your costume—yes, still!

Just because you're at home doesn't mean you shouldn't step out in your funniest, spookiest, or cutest costume. Frankenstein masks are highly encouraged! Get yours here.

10. Host a Zoom Halloween Party

Zoom and Google Hangouts have become the norm for holidays this year, so send out that invite link and tell people to mark their calendars. Costumes mandatory (at least from the waist up).

Happy Halloween!
